スタイルガイド全体を読む時間をかけるほどではない、短期の翻訳作業の場合のために最重要ルール10個を言語ごとに挙げているとのことなので、さっそく日本語のTop 10 Tipsを見てみました。

最初の、読者のことを常に考えるのはよいとして、2番目が気になります。

英語と日本語は文法体系がまったく異なるのですが、原文テキストと同じ文法構造を反映するよう努めるとは、具体的にどういうことなのでしょう。単語や句や節の配置を合わせろということ？ これが2番目に挙げられているということは、過去に文法構造が違っていて大問題になったことがあるのでしょうか。一つでも例が添えられていると理解しやすいのですが。
